Worm gear set (ratio 28: 1, bore REX 8mm)
This 28: 1 ratio worm gear kit is the perfect way to slow down and increase torque! Worm gear sets are also a popular choice in non-reversible applications. While this kit can be used outside of the 1120 series channel, the sprocket sizes conform to an internal width of 43mm.
The worm gear is a stainless-steel component to be driven by an 8mm REX shaft. The auger 8mm REX bore creates a positive drive so there is no possibility of slipping between it and the shaft driving it. The grub screws are not necessary if the worm itself is gripped by the frame in which it is installed. They come in handy in situations where the worm is not axially constrained. The length of the worm screw is 33mm, so that the combination of the screw, the thrust bearing, and the radial bearing at each end fits perfectly into the 43mm channel width.
The worm gear is a brass piece to be driven by the worm. It spins 28 times slower than a worm. This gearbox has a standard 16mm goBILDA pattern, so you can choose the diameter and profile of the output shaft that best suits your project. The output shaft will not be able to rotate unless it is driven by the worm, which is one of the several advantages of worm gear reduction.
