IMPROVED LENS REGULATOR

Improved lens adjuster with rubber gasket, compatible with all M9x0.5 lenses available on the market. The wider internal thread on the PLH3D-6W-XF + body allows for easy replacement of the standard lens with the uSpot lens. The engraving laser head is still compatible with all PLH3D series accessories and adapters.

IMPROVED MECHANICAL DESIGN

The new generation PLH3D-6W series has an even more compact design that looks even better than the previous one. The engraving laser wiring is no longer pigtails, the cable can be connected or disconnected easily and quickly via the 6-pin terminal.

The engraving laser head is still compatible with all PLH3D series accessories and adapters.

ENHANCED SAFETY FEATURES

The cutting and engraving laser head now has an "arming" LED. As soon as the engraving laser head is connected to the power supply, the LED lights up. Additionally, the diode signals overheating in the event of its occurrence.

- When the ambient temperature where the engraving laser operates in CW mode exceeds 40⁰C (104⁰F), the LED will flash. This warning means that the temperature will soon exceed the maximum operating temperature.

- If the ambient temperature reaches 45⁰C (113⁰F) or higher, the LED will stop working and the engraving laser head will turn off.

ENHANCED ELECTRONICS

The improved design of the PLH3D series cutting and engraving lasers is equipped with a new generation of laser diode drivers. Compared to the previous generation, the engraving laser diode driver is characterized by increased efficiency, produces less noise, and is built of even higher quality components, which ensures increased reliability and long life of the engraving laser.

ADDITIONAL SWITCH FOR 10V ANALOG INPUT

The engraving laser head now has an additional switch for the 10 V analog input. The modulation input of the cutting and engraving laser can be changed from 0-5 V analog input to 0-10 V analog input. This change makes the cutting and engraving laser is more versatile and compatible with more CNC machines and 3D printers. FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Cutting and engraving - the PLH3D-6W-XF blue laser allows you to cut and engrave various materials such as wood, cardboard, rubber, paper, textiles, leather, plastic, balsa, plywood and many more, as well as marking stainless steel, titanium, and types of steels with low thermal conductivity. Factory Set Lens - The laser engraving head comes with a High-Resolution Triplet lens installed and is focused on a focus of 60.0mm (measured from the face of the laser head to the engraving plane). This focal distance provides a well-optimized focal spot size that is suitable for many laser engraving and cutting applications. This is the best optimized focus distance to start with!

Beam Offset - In some applications, such as laser engraving of wood, it is recommended to reduce the sharpness of the cutting and engraving laser to obtain a symmetrical beam. This can be done by moving the laser forward or backward in the direction of beam propagation by the value given in the table below. This allows the engraving laser to engrave with the same line thickness in both the X and Y directions. However, in some applications, such as metal engraving and laser cutting, maximizing the power density is more desirable than a symmetrical beam.

For example, the PLH3D-6W-XF laser engraver is factory set to the sharpness of 60.0mm from the front of the engraving laser head. Setting the laser to 64.4 mm or 55.6 mm (+/- 4.4 mm from the focus) will allow the laser head to engrave with the same line thickness in both directions.

Versatility of input signals - the built-in controller allows to accept various signals of 0-5V analog signal and 0-5V, 0-10V or 0-24V PWM / TTL signal.

Built-in driver inside the engraving laser head - Opt Lasers is the first company to integrate a laser diode driver directly into the cutting and engraving laser head. A short connection between the laser diode and the driver provides better protection of the diode, the possibility of modulating the high-frequency current and eliminating the effects of inductance during switching on.

Supports a wide range of supply voltages - 12-24 V, the integrated high-performance DC-DC converter adjusts the input voltage to the correct diode compliance voltage. This reduces the amount of heat generated and provides protection against surges.

No additional cooling required - the well-thought-out shape of the cutting and engraving laser heads provides the best possible cooling method for a 6W laser diode. Many prototypes were tested to find the best solution. The current design allows the engraving laser to warm up by only 2-3 degrees Celsius after a whole hour of continuous operation at full power.

Two types of lenses included - A high-resolution triplet lens with adjuster, has a relatively long effective focal length (EFL) of 8 mm, which allows the laser light to be focused on a small point. All 6 surfaces of the lenses are covered with an anti-reflective coating (AR) with a wavelength of 450 nm. Usually, it is preferred for engraving thinner lines, cutting thicker materials or when a large distance between the laser head and the plane of the cutted or engraved object is required.

The installed high-performance aspherical lens is designed to transmit as much power as possible from the laser diode. Its short effective focal length (EFL) of 4 mm allows you to work with different distances but makes the focal spot almost double that of a Triplet lens. This lens should be used to engrave thicker lines on wood or plastic. This type of lens is used without a lens adjuster as it must be mounted closer to the laser diode.

The most powerful fan on the market for its size - cooling is not the only function of this fan. With an air flow of 43 m3 per hour (25 CFM), it is a great smoke extraction system. Additionally, the service life of the fan is 70,000 hours.

CONTROL INPUTS AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

The PLH3D-6W-XF laser head has two separate control inputs.

Modulation input # 1 accepts 0-5V or 0-10V (with an additional 4.2kΩ resistor in series) for analog power modulation.

Modulation input # 2 accepts 0-5V, 0-10V or 0-24V for TTL / PWM and turns on the cutting and engraving laser when the voltage exceeds 2.5V.

Important: Do not connect modulation input # 1 and modulation input # 2 simultaneously. This may cause inappropriate engraving laser work.

Important: The PLH3D-6W-XF engraving laser should be powered from a high-quality power supply without connecting other devices. Note: It is not recommended to connect the laser head to the same power supply as the stepper motor or other high impedance devices. This can damage the laser diode.

PROTECTION SYSTEM

The PLH3D-6W-XF laser cutting, and engraving head has a thermal protection system that protects the laser diode from overheating in order to maintain its life. The device is designed to automatically shut down when the enclosure temperature exceeds 47 ° C. The analog input is protected by a 5V Zener diode in case the voltage exceeds 5V. Regardless, this input should not be connected to higher voltages due to the risk of damage. The laser diode is protected by a Schottky diode which protects it against reverse voltage and ESD. Additionally, the integrated controller is fully covered to protect it from metal chips which may occur in the CNC machine environment.

FOCAL

The focal distance can be quickly set or changed using the included lens adjuster (no additional tools required). The device controller is integrated directly with the engraving laser head. This feature significantly increases the maximum modulation frequency and allows machine to be connected with a longer cable.

IMPROVED HEAT DISSIPATION

This lightweight laser engraving machine 220 g (7.8 oz) does not require additional cooling system. The engraving laser body acts as a heat sink and the fan design allows it to act as an air nozzle, protecting the lens from smoke and cooling the laser head at the same time. Rigorous tests which had been made on several prototypes, allowed us to optimize the shape of the heat sink and enable efficient cooling maintaining the compact design of the module.

SMOKE ACCESSORIES

Our 6W laser cutting and engraving head enables you to engrave or cut materials such as wood, stainless steel, paper, leather, cardboard and many more. For materials that produce smoke during engraving or laser cutting, we offer an optional nozzle that can be attached to the front of the machine using magnets built into the engraving laser head.
